A numerical model for the Serpens radio jet

چکیده
The Serpens (“triple source”) radio continuum jet shows a series of aligned knots with ≈ 1-2′′ angular separations, forming a curved structure circumscribed within a cone of∼ 10◦ full opening angle. We present a high resolution, 3D numerical simulation of a jet with variable ejection direction and velocity with parameters appropriate for the Serpens jet, from which we obtain predictions of 3.6 cm radio continuum maps. We find that the general morphology of the radio emission, and the time evolution of the successive knots, qualitatively agree with 3.6 cm VLA observations of the Serpens radio jet.

Experimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model
Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...

This article reports first results of a long-term observational program aimed to study the earliest evolution of jet/disk systems in low-mass YSOs by means of VLBI observations of the 22.2 GHz water masers. We report here data for the cluster of lowmass YSOs in the Serpens molecular core and for the single object RNO 15-FIR. Towards Serpens SMM1, the most luminous sub-mm source of the Serpens c...
متن کاملUnsteady Numerical Investigations of Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Nanofluids in a Confined Jet Using Two-Phase Mixture Model
The development of high-performance thermal systems has increased interest in heat transfer enhancement techniques. The application of additives to heat transfer liquids is one of the noticeable effort to enhance heat transfer. In this paper two-dimensional unsteady incompressible nanofluid flow in a confined jet at the laminar flow regime is numerically investigated. The Mixture model is consi...
متن کاملApplying a full implicit finite-difference method in jet impingement heat transfer studies
Jet impingement heat transfer is an effective and practical approach that is employed in many industrial processes where heating, cooling, or drying is required. Details of the heat or mass transfer rate have been investigated both experimentally and numerically and can be found in the published literature. In most of the numerical studies, control-volume approach has been employed to solve the...
متن کاملQuasi-Static Numerical Simulation of Missile Staging
In this study, the missile staging process by implementing a side-injected jet is simulated numerically. The problem is considered to be axisymmetric and the thin shear layer approximation of Navier-Stokes equations along with an algebraic turbulence model is used in a quasi-static form for the calculations. The free stream corresponds to a very high altitude flight condition with a Mach number...
